COVID 19: University College, Ibadan suspends activities, cites rising cases

The University of Ibadan medical school has suspended activities following the reported increase in the rate of COVID-19 infection among students of the pioneer medical school.
The school authority said increase among residents of the Alexander Brown Hall (ABH) compelled the school to convene the College Expanded Executive Committee emergency virtual meeting on Saturday, 18 December, 2021 at 8pm to discuss the situation and make recommendations to the Vice Chancellor.

upon receipt of the recommendations the Vice Chancellor convened an emergency meeting on Wednesday, 22 December 2021 and the following decisions were taken for immediate implementation:
1. *All physical academic activities should cease with immediate effect until further notice. All academic sessions should immediately proceed to virtual mode until further notice*. (The situation will be reviewed regularly).
2. The Management of the Alexander Brown Hall will immediately commence risk assessments and screening of all resident students.
3. Students are encouraged to proceed home for the festive season to decongest the Hall.
4. Arrangements are being put in place to isolate students who are COVID19 and provide treatment for those who are symptomatic.
