Nigeria has recorded the unfortunate death of a Medical Doctor to the dreaded Coronavirus pandemic. The incidence took place on Wednesday.
The diseased, a medical practitioner at the University of Lagos Teaching Hospital, (LUTH) was said to have died on Wednesday from complications arising from COVID-19.
Dr Chugo was said have died within seven days after he contracted the virus through a patient.
A source told Irohinoodua that he was the first Nigeria Medical Doctor to have died of the pandemic.
An official who does not wish to be named said “Dr Chugbo was an excellent medical practitioner who has been working in LUTH for a long time. He was treating a COVID-19 patient who didn’t respond to treatment for days. It is strongly believed that he contracted the virus from the patient who died three days after his admission to LUTH
before Dr Chugbo later passed away” , said the source.
He claimed that the LUTH authorities are deeply worried about his death and have initiatived more pro-active measures to protect all the health workers at the first generation Teaching Hospital.
“His death was unfortunate. He is the first Nigerian medical doctor to have died of COVID-19. He died in active service to his fatherland” one of his colleagues told our correspondent.
