COVID-19: Ekiti Speaker, Afuye distributes relief materials to 1000 homes

The Speaker, Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt.Hon. Funminiyi Afuye has distributed an emergency relief package to about 1000 household in his constituency.
The relief package distributed by the Speaker included preventive medical items and food stuffs estimated to cover several households in one of the largest constituencies in the state.
Rt. Hon. Afuye said the motive behind the exercise was to mitigate the inherent effect of the stay-at-home directive on the people. He said the relief materials would meet temporary needs of ma1ny needy households in his constituency.
Ekiti has maintained a low index in the COVID-19 spread following an her recording its first case barely a week ago. The State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi had also set an example for the State when he went for the COVID-19 test after which he isolated himself. The result of his test had turned negative.
The distribution of the Speaker’s palliatives were effected by his aides and state officials including but not limited to a Commissioner in the State Universal Basic Education, Dr Olufunke Fajobi, Special Advisers on Media and Special duties; Akogun Tai Oguntayo and Mrs Kemisola Ajibola respectively. Others are the Chief of Staff, Mr Iyiola Alao and the Special Adviser Political, Mr. Soji Bamidele.
The Speaker stated that the welfare of the people should be a collective task of all which must not be left alone for the government.
He noted that the package was meant for the entire people of Ikere constituencies 1 and 2 and not limited to party affiliation.
He advised members of the eleven wards in his Ikere to keep to the social distancing and regular hand washing campaign by the government to curtail the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.
In their response, some of the representative of the 11 wards which benefited from the gesture, appreciated the Speaker for his humanitarian gesture and prayed to God to keep sustaining him.
