A Bus Rapid Transit(BRT) with more than 45-passengers has upturned on a Lagos bridge leading to scores of injured passengers.
The chaotic scene unfolded at Iyana Ipaja, Lagos on Friday.
The fully loaded Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) bus overturned within the dedicated BRT lane, leaving several passengers injured.
The incident occurred shortly after the bus departed from the Iyana Ipaja BRT terminal. According to a report from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), the bus collided with an abandoned pedestrian footbridge shortly after crossing the Iyana Ipaja bridge, causing it to tip over onto its side.
Authorities have confirmed that 10 passengers have received the necessary medical attention. LASTMA officials responded swiftly to the scene, managing the situation and ensuring the victims were promptly cared for.
The accident caused significant traffic disruption in the area, with ongoing efforts to clear the lane and restore normal traffic flow.
Motorists and commuters are advised to exercise caution and follow traffic directives as authorities work to resolve the situation.
LASTMA officials have stated that the cause of the incident is still under investigation.
