BREAKING: Buhari to confer National honours on Tinubu, Shettima

President Mohammadu Buhari will soon confer on President Elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu the highest honour in Nigeria, Grand Commmander of the Federal Republic, (GCFR)
The Vice President Elect Kassim Shettima will also be conferred with the title of Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger, (GCON)
This is coming ahead of the May 29 handover date
At a Press Conference on Thursday, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, (SGF) Boss Mustapha said the award is in recognition of Tinubu’s contributions to democracy.
The conferment will take place on May 25, few days before the May 29 hand over.
Tinubu won the February 25 Presidential election defeating his rivals, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) and Mr Peter Obi of the Labour Party, LP
The two parties are currently contesting the results of the Presidential election in court.
Mustapha said “The transition process is on course and all efforts are being made to ensure that it is smooth and on May 29, there would be peaceful formal transfer of power to the new president.”
He said official handover of documents to Tinubu will tale place on that day
