A member of the seventh House of Representatives, Hon Opeyemi Bamidele has described the demise of the Chairman of Afenifere in Ekiti State, Chief Dapo Awojolu and another Chieftain of the party, Mr. Femi Adeyemi Alagbada as a serious blow to the Ekiti State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Bamidele commiserated with the National Working Committee of the party headed by Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, the National Leader of the Party, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu and the Chairman of the party in the State, Chief Jide Awe over the death of these priceless party loyalists.
Bamidele urged the party to take solace in the fact that the two had contributed meaningfully to the development of the State while alive.
He described the duo as staunch party loyalists, who stood firmly by the party during its most challenging time, saying they shall be sorely missed for their unflagging commitment and dedication to the growth and development of the APC in Ekiti State.
Bamidele said the party won’t forget in a hurry the role the duo played in making APC a party to be reckoned with in the state, particularly at the grassroots level, adding that they had left indelible footprints on the political sand of time.
“Chief Awojolu’s forthrightness and principled stand on issues of national pedigree would be hard to forget. He was an upright Awoist who didn’t compromise his stand as a progressive leader while alive’’, says Hon. Bamidele.
“He served the APC with dignity and integrity. He was a role model and shinning to the younger generation and we have learnt from him in no small measure.
“He was an epitome of selfless and enduring service to humanity. Chief Awojolu had served well and his great virtues and deeds shall remain evergreen in the hearts of the people”.
Awojolu, the Chairman of the State Civil Service Commission during Otunba Niyi Adebayo-led administration died on Monday at his residence in Ado Ekiti after a brief illness.
Alagbada, a former National Secretary of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), was the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government until his demise.
