At least two people were shot dead on Friday while some 10 others were kidnapped by armed men operating in Ondo State.
The victims were travellers using the route to different destinations.
Sources told Irohinoodua that the gunmen suspected to be herders blocked the Ifon-Owo highway after which they stopped all vehicles plying the route.
Sources claimed they shot and killed two people before marching no fewer than 10 other passengers into the bush.
The incidence took place on Friday at night.
Police sources said Amotekun and police detectives are on the trail of the kidnappers but no arrests have been made as at Saturday.
“The armed men were about 11. They all had AK-47. A few of them wore military uniforms” local sources told Irohinoodua.
The source said one of the kidnapped travellers was a Youth Corps member who were his official unform.
Other sources at Omi Alafa village in Ifon, Ose LGA, said the kidnappers have started consulting families of their victims demanding for ransome in millions of Naira.
Two vehicles were said to have been involved. They were said to be carrying passengers coming from South East on their way to Akure, the Ondo State capital.
The kidnapping has raised concerns about insecurity that has refused to abate in Yoruba territories.
