Armed men kidnap another Ekiti Oba

By Kunle Adu

Armed men suspected to be Fulani herdsmen have again kidnapped another traditional ruler in Ekiti State.

This is the third incidence that traditional rulers in Ekiti would come under one form of attack or the other. One had earlier been kidnapped and another shot by the same armed groups operating in the Ilejemeje local government axis.

The Obadu of Ilemosho, Oba David Adegboyega was earlier kidnapped but released after ransom was paid.

On Thursday, Oba Benjamin Osho the Eleda of Eda-Ile Ekiti, was seized by armed bandits this time in another area few kilometers from Ilejemeje becoming the latest victim.

Irohinoodua was informed that the Oba and his wife were accosted on his farm and bundled away. His Olori was later released with instructions to go and source for the ransom.

“This is an embarrassment to Yoruba tradition. We are downcast. It is a sad commentary that our revered custodians of our institutions are being picked like fowl by armed Fulani people. We should turn it around and imagine armed Yoruba people going to Fulaniland to kidnap their Emirs. Enough is enough’ Mr Akanni Sanusi and indigene of the community told Irohinoodua on phone.

Police sources said efforts are in top gear to track the kidnappers.
