Armed men bomb Kogi Police Station

On Friday, armed men bombed a police station in Okene, an ancient town in Kogi State. Sources told Irohinoodua that at least one police officer was killed.
The target was the Police Office located in Eika-Ohizenyi in Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The murdered officer was identified as Mr Jibril popularly known as Yellow. The attackers raised the police station after throwing a bomb. Another source said the attackers used dynamite.
‘This is getting scary. Kogi is becoming a major target of terrorists. We woke up this morning the sound of an explosion only to discover a police station has been raized down’ Musa Anjola a native of Okene told Irohinoodua.
The Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Police Command, Edward Egbuka visited the place on Friday to assess the extent of damage done to the police station.
The Police Mobile Force, Counter Terrorism Unit, Quick Response Unit, and the State Intelligence Bureau have also been mobilized to counter the offensive, source told Irohinoodua.

The Kogi Police Public Relations Officer, William Aya, in Lokoja on Friday confirmed the attack.
