An angry young resident of London has said he would burn down the Nigerian Embassy in London if Prof Banji Akintoye is arrested

Prof Akintoye is the President of Yoruba World Congress, (YWC)a coalition of several Pan Yoruba groups.

The group has been calling for Yoruba self determination.

Koiki Olayomi, sparing a white shirt with his name inscription said any attempt to arrest Prof Akintoye would spur him to burn the Nigerian Embassy in London

The YWC had alerted of plans to clampdown on separatist agitators citing the statement of the Directorate of State Services which recently alleged that some Nigerians were planning to create crisis in the Country

“Any attempt to arrest Prof Akintoye, I will burn down the Nigerian embassy in London” he said warning that Nigerians would soon witness a resurgence in ethnic self determination across the country.

Across Europe many younger people of Igbo and Yoruba extraction have been promoting the right to ethnic self determination.Lately, the agitation for Yoruba self determination has seen resurgence in many European cities especially in the United Kingdone where the number of Yoruba migrants is said to be over I million people.

“I need only 5 cents petrol. If Baba Ekiti(Prof Akintoye) is arrested,I will burn down the Nigerian Embassy in London. I don’t mind going to jail. I will go to jail for Yoruba Ntion” the angry youth said

A police official however told Irohinoodua that such threats represent an expression of violence which is against international best practices.

“It’s a cracy idea to say you will burn down the Nigerian Embassy. There are no plans to arrest Prof Akintoye and in the police we think the video is propaganda material” the police official said declining to speak officially.
