Aliko Dangote to own University of Science and Technology

Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group and Chancellor of Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology (ADUSTECH), Wudil, Mr Aliko Dangote has announced significant pledges to enhance the institution’s educational infrastructure and operations.

In a statement released by Vice Chancellor Prof. Musa Yakasai, Dangote’s commitments follow a recent N100 million contribution to restore electricity to the university, facilitated through the Aliko Dangote Foundation. The pledges were made during a thank-you visit by the university’s management team to Dangote’s office in Lagos.

Among the pledges outlined by Prof. Yakasai, Dangote has committed to constructing a modern Senate Building, three additional students’ hostel blocks, and 10 senior academic staff accommodations. Additionally, he plans to upgrade the university’s water treatment plant to improve water supply and sponsor the institution’s upcoming 5th convocation ceremony.

Acknowledging the pivotal role of sustainable energy, Dangote also reiterated plans to provide a long-term energy solution to address electricity challenges at ADUSTECH. Furthermore, he pledged to furnish the university’s Principal Officers with official vehicles to support their administrative duties.

“The visit to Alhaji Aliko Dangote was a gesture of appreciation for his swift intervention in settling the university’s electricity bill,” Prof. Yakasai emphasized. “His ongoing support reflects his commitment to advancing educational development and infrastructure in Kano State.”

The university community and the people of Kano State have expressed gratitude to Aliko Dangote for his transformative contributions to ADUSTECH, underscoring the significant impact of his philanthropic efforts on higher education in Nigeria.
