The Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Olufemi Oluyede has warned that criminals including terrorists are moving from the North to the South West.

The North has been the hot bed of radical and extremist groups.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, spoke at the weekend in Akure, Ondo State during his encounter with troops.

He said due to the pressure on the criminals who are in the North, many of them are moving down to the South West.

The Nigeria Army and other security forces have launched coordinated attacks on terrorism forcing many of them to relocate their cells and network having been distrupted.

He was speaking at the 32 Artillery Brigade in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

Lieutenant General Oluyede said the criminals are moving downwards because of the consistent decimation of their strength.

Lieutenant General Oluyede in his speech monitored by Irohinoodua urged to security personnel not to allow the criminals to have a safe haven in the South West.

He asked the soldiers to be prepared to stop the infiltration.

“As we are pursuing the criminals from the north, we have realized that some of them are coming down to the southwest. What does that mean? What does that tell you? That work is coming,” he told the troops.

According to him “It is better you nip it in the bud and you allow it to grow. Once it grows, it becomes a monster. We don’t want another northeast. Neither do we want another northwest. So you must brace up about that challenge.”

He told the soldiers to work in cooperation and network with sister services, other security agencies.

He also asked the soldiers to collaborate with the intelligence community to deal with all security threats within the Brigade’s area jurisdiction.

He asked the troops to continue to be professional in their calling.
