NEDC trains youths on alternative energy, waste management

The North East Development Commission (NEDC), has trained youths on alternative energy and waste management in Gombe state.

The training is part of efforts to address environmental and climate change challenges in the area

The state coordinator of NEDC, Usman Bappah, said the training program will help tackle environmental pollution in North East sub-region of the country.

He mentioned that 275 youth were drawn from 11 local government area of the state, to participate in the workshop.

Successful candidates were trained on how to adopt alternative source of energy as need for sustainable development goals.

Usman said, “ as such there is a need for concerted efforts to mitigate the effects of the climate change.”

Usman noted that the government is committed to support sustainable environmental practices in region.

“NEDC remains committed to partner with other stakeholders, especially the youths to implement interventions that will mitigate the effects of climate change and enhance the quality and standard environmental practices,” he said.

Also, the State Commissioner of Water, Environment and Forest Resources, Muhammad Sa’idu Fawu, urge NEDC and stakeholder to invest, provide affordable energy sources to people.

He mentioned that the possible way to tackle climate change is providing alternative and cheap sources of energy.
