AFYMP train young media professionals in Africa on inclusion and disability report

The Africa Foundation for Young Media Professionals (AFYMP), has embarked on an historic training of young media practitioners.
The 2-day training took place at Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The event is also a fellowship prgramme aimed at capacity building of young journalists.
32-successful applicants across Africa took part in the training also aimed to strengthen, empower and position next generation of early career journalists across Africa.
It is a six-month mostly virtual mentorship that started with a 2-day fully funded intensive in-person workshops.
The workshops targeted Ibadan, Lagos, Abuja Owerri and Port Harcourt.
The Executive Director of Africa Foundation for young media professionals, Mr Yinka Olaito, took the veil off the grand event at Ibadan.
In his welcome speech, he congratulated all successful journalists who made it to the media training.
According to him, the training worship was designed to further enhance the skill of participants on professional, impactful and inclusive work with the interest of reporting People with disabilities (PWDs).
Some of the facilitators included Dr. Toyin Aderemi, Dr. Adetutu Omotoso, Treasure Uchegbu and also a journalist from The Cable, Yinka Michael, who has working impairments.
No fewer that 4million people in Nigeria alone live with disability.
The People.Living With Disability face challenges of exclusion, lack of opportunities and often misrepresented by media terminologies.
Mr Yinka who expressed his happiness about the large number of applications received for the inclusion and disability training urged the few selected participants to make use of the skills acquired in the two days workshop to make a significant difference in our inclusive report.
