A pastor of the Redeem Christian Church of God, RCCG in Ogun State has been shot dead by armed groups
The armed man invaded the Church while a night vigil was on going. They shot dead the pastor and later abducted no fewer than 10 members of the Church.
The Church is located at Abule-Ori in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State
The police said the gory attack happened around 12 midnight.
The Commander of the Ogun State So-Safe Corps, Soji Ganzallo confirmed the killling and abduction.
He however said the kidnapped were rescued by security operatives.
In a statement signed and made available to Irohinoodua, the So-Safe Director of Information and Public Relations, Moruf Yusuf, Ganzallo said the attackers struck on Saturday, this last weekend.
Our correspondent could not confirm if the attackers were armed herdmen or locals
However, a source in the area said the attackers were not from Ogun State judging from the language they spoke.
Ganzallo said “the special operation team of the Corps, Owode-Egba Zonal Command, under ACC Jimoh Rasaki Omoniyi, received a distress call that some of the members of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Desires of Nations Parish, under Ogun Province 22, Abule-Ori in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area were attacked during a vigil, while seven members of the church were kidnapped and the pastor killed.”
He said “the officers swung into action immediately.”
Ganzallo said the efforts yielded fruits as “the seven victims were rescued unhurt while one of the kidnappers was killed and many of the suspects sustained serious injury during a fire exchange.”
