In an inspiring search for education, 94-year-old Adedapo Idowu has taken a bold step to fulfill his lifelong dream of pursuing tertiary education.
He has registered for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), proving that 94 years is no barrier.
Idowu’s remarkable journey was featured in the latest bulletin of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), where he expressed his excitement and gratitude.
“I can now attain my dream at an advanced age,” he said, commending JAMB for its seamless registration process.
He praised JAMB for integrating the National Identity Number (NIN), which he believes has eliminated discrimination against the elderly, underprivileged, and people with disabilities.
“The registration staff gave me a sense of belonging through the warm reception at the registration venue,” he noted.
Idowu encouraged JAMB to maintain its efficient registration system and advised fellow candidates to prioritize professionalism and contentment in their academic journey.
With over 700,000 candidates already registered for the 2025 UTME, including 11,000 underage applicants, Idowu’s story serves as a powerful reminder that education is a lifelong pursuit.
