APC Osun Primary: Violence erupts, armed group battle in Aiyedire LG

The All Progressive Congress, (APC) in Osun State led by Chairman Alhaji Rasak Salinsile has expressed concern about violence being unleashed by some people ahead of the APC primary slated for Saturday.

Osun called the attention of the entire citizens of Osun in particular and Nigerians in general to the unending manifestation of the violent tendencies of the Governor Gboyega Oyetola-led faction of the APC in Osun. The statement was made available to Irohinoodua.

He said “today, we have been inundated with calls from several well-meaning Nigerians who have seen the horrendous gun attacks and machete attacks unleashed on members of the Ileri Oluwa faction of the APC in Ayedire Local Government Area of the state.”

He said accounts of what happened and the supporting images and videos have shown that two factions of Ileri Oluwa group led by Governor Oyetola clashed over some issues.

“However, unlike the culture in the APC and the true progressives, opposing sides resorted to gunshots and cutlasses that have left many in emergency wards of hospitals” he said.

He said the clarification was necessary lest unsuspecting members of the public who had monitored the ceaseless but unprovoked attacks on party members across Osun.

“We in the Salinsile-led APC have said times without number that violence is alien to the APC. It is tragic that in the desperation for the control of the party, the Governor has continually encouraged his followers to engage in violence as a means of settling political disagreements.
We must, without any doubt, state that this has cast our party in very bad in the estimation of all right-thinking people, ” he said
